so i went hiking again - however, i can't remember the name of the mountain. for the first time i had a hiking partner, which made things a bit more entertaining.
i went hiking again today - this time to mount tom in easthampton/holyoke. the mountain is known as one of the best hawk watching spots in new england. i was able to sit and watch one for 30 minutes, but wasn't able to get a satisfying picture.

This is my most recent hiking trip to Monument Mountain (about an hour west of northampton). According to the visitor's guide, Monument Mountain is home to the highest peak in Massachusetts. It also inspired Melville to write Moby Dick.
